ONLY A DREAM? CAN A PERSON GET REVELATION WHILE ASLEEP?
Everyone dreams, but can God communicate with people through dreams? Can the dead communicate with the living?

I believe God can communicate with us any way he chooses. For each of us, it is probably a bit different. Some people would never be receptive to any message received in a dream. They would just say "it was only a dream." For others, they are spiritual enough to recognize it any way it happens. I personally receive my inspiration in the shower. Probably because this is the only place I am quiet or have quiet around me.
I have read that it is a good idea to have a pad and paper nearby when sleeping so that you can write down your dreams because if God is trying to communicate with you this way, you will forget what you have dreamed unless you write it down immediately upon waking.
Funbikerchick... I agree with you about God's sovereignty in methods God uses to speak to us. As for dreams... I don't remember most of them. I can count only 4 genuine occurences in my whole life where I believe God spoke specifically to me in a dream.
The last one was in August of 2004. It had to do with dreaming about a European woman overwhelmed with the care of children in India. When I arose that morning, I checked my email as is my custom. In a moment before I deleted an email from 'beliefnet', I noticed the caption "Missionary returns ill from India." I said... ok... I dreamed about India... why not... and clicked on the caption. Up came a picture of a woman who looked just like the woman in my dream. Normally, I would have dismissed the dream but it was on my mind throughout the morning at work.
At about 11 A.M., an employee came by to get my signature as a part of her leaving government service. During our conversation, she revealed she was going to the Balkans to be a missionary and told me of her son and daughter in law who had packed up and settled in India. She gave me their email address along with a local Indian pastor who lived 150 miles from them. I emailed her son and the Indian pastor. I got no response from her son. I did get a response from the local Pastor.
This dream was the means to assign me to pray and help those folks over there. I don't believe in asking people for money for God's work or even hinting at it. But God dropped $5000 into my hand specifically for that work from a source who wasn't even aware of the need. He just said... "God is prompting me to give you this for the Gospel."
The Indian Pastor and I communicate regularly. There are 10 other Pastors from various villages that meet once a month with him to pray and fast. The congregations have tripled in size.
I feel most blessed by all of this... and the many good reports of decisions for Christ and Baptisms. And to think... this calling all started with a dream. And just at a time when I was beginning to think God was done with me.
