FBI director: Feds have roughly 900 domestic probes about Islamic State operatives
FBI Director James Comey said Friday that federal authorities have an estimated 900 active investigations pending against suspected Islamic State-inspired operatives across the country. In a speech to intelligence officials, Comey said that the number of inquiries is "Slowly climbing" As ISIL has sought to expand their reach into the U.S., targeting largely young, disaffected potential operatives through a provocative social media campaign. William Bratton, commissioner of the New York City Police Department, said Tuesday that a specific threat was made to NYC schools, but the NYPD does not see this as a credible terrorist threat. Two Iraqi refugees living in U.S. Charged with aiding terrorist organizations
Two Palestinian men born in Iraq, who entered the U.S. As a refugees, have been arrested on terror-related charges. Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan, 24, was arrested in Houston and charged with attempting to provide support to the Islamic State. Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab, 23, was arrested in Sacramento and is accused of traveling to Syria to fight alongside terrorist organizations there. Ref. USAToday
A 30-year-old man suspected of shooting and injuring a Philadelphia police officer said that he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, and that is the reason he committed the shooting, police Capt. James Clark said at a news conference. The suspect used a stolen police gun, authorities said. Ref. CNN
