Sponge Bob Squarepants
This is very similar to the Simpsons in my opinion, but not as crude. I do not know what has overcome me but ever since Felipe introduced me to Sponge Bob I love seeing it - the humor is hilarious! There are a couple of episodes that really stand out - 'Chocolate with Nuts' and 'Club Sponge Bob'. Sponge Bob makes being a nerd - cool through the use of typical north American pranks, slang and jokes. What do you think about it?
Sponge Bob (Hover)
My grandson loves this show.
I find it less objectionable than The Simpsons. Spongebob does get himself in a lot of sticky situations, but he is a really good guy with a big heart.
My kids have every episode memorized by heart! And so do I. I love watching this cartoon with my kids. I notice lots of little adultisms that kids wont get but I do and find them amusing. I also like the fact that spongebob, despite his escapades, continues to be incredibly naive! Patrick is a complete moron, so much in fact that he doesn't realize it himself. My favorite episode is the one where spongebob has bad breath from eating a ketchup and onion sunday! I do like club sponge though, "All hail the magic conchae!".
Now to theorize... how old is Sponge Bob anyway? We know he is old enough to live on his own, but often is referred to as a kid. He has a specific quest to become a man so we know that he is not yet an adult. There is one clue we get in the 'SpongeBob Squarepants Movie' where he claims to have obtained 374 consecutive Employee of the Month awards since working at the Krusty Krab. So divide that by 12 and we get 31.2 years so is that sponge years? How old do you think Sponge Bob is?
Who knows! The real question is what is the life span of a sponge? SpongeBob himself sometimes gets under my skin with his laugh. However, I do enjoy Patrick, just because he is a blockhead. The show itself is quite entertaining, and the supporting characters like Mr. Crab, Squidworth and Sandy are quite funny.
Well after putting on my geeky Sponge Bob 'hat' I have found out that the life span of a sponge can be anywhere from one to three years depending on the species. If they are held in captivity they only last days to weeks which might explain why Sponge Bob withers so quick when he is out of his normal routine. So now you are good in Mathematics Malexander.... maybe you can compare 3 sponge years with human months of 374 and get a mean?
OK, here goes. 3 years = 72 human years (average life span of a human, give or take). Which means for every sponge year we have 24 human years which equals 24x12 = 288 months. 374 months = 1.3 sponge years. So, assuming SpongeBob started working when he was 18 years old (human years) that would be .25 sponge years. Therefore, from my deduction, SpongeBob is about 1.3 + .25 = 1.55 sponge years which would be 1.55 x 24 = 37.2 human years. If you didn't know I was a geek before, now you have written proof.
Hilarious to the max! Malexander I think you just qualified for the SpongeBob Square Pants Club! Now the only thing I foresee with the above working is the assumption that he started when he was 18 years old. Another thing that may be possible is the author / creator is around the same age in human years (30s). Now in the Movie once again Mr Krabs says he could not give Songebob a promotion because he was just a 'kid' and Squidworth was more mature. One has to wonder what the age of Squidworth is considering his boring bachelor lifestyle.
