Has anyone tried Netscape 8 as yet? I understand that it allows you to view Web pages using either the Firefox or Internet Explorer engine. However I have also heard that it is a memory hog - that is something that first happened in 7.0, but was later fixed in 7.2 - maybe the same will happen with 8.0.
I always try new browsers, I love new software. But I am biased and thought that netscape 8 was just ok. It does have the ability to view in firefox or IE, but they stole that from firefox, we firefox users have had that functionality for 8 months now. I didnt notice that it was any more a memory hog than the other two. IE is still the one that takes up the most memory. N8 is supposed to have tabbed browsing, another theft of firefox, but I couldnt find out how to implement it and in the end actual started to think that I just made up that claim on my own. The new plugins for flash and java are very nice and come with the initial install. You no longer need a macromedia plugin, it is imbedded with the browser just like Jave is. Over all, its better than IE, but not better than firefox.
