Two portraits of George Washington by renowned artist Gilbert Stuart, one of them commissioned as a gift for Alexander Hamilton, are to be auctioned Wednesday at Sotheby's in Manhattan.

I personally would have liked to see paintings such as these put up in a museum honoring America's history. I do have to admit that for the amount of funds raised the library should be able to add a good addition to their collection. I just hate to see America's history sold to the highest bidder. Seems a little unpatriotic to me, but I never have been all about the money I guess.
