Pakistan's woman tourism minister tendered her resignation today after hardline Islamic clerics accused her of obscenity for hugging her instructor after a charity parachute jump. Obscenity they said?

The Federal Minister for Tourism, was pictured wearing a brightly coloured jumpsuit and hugging her instructor after a tandem jump to raise money for child victims of the earthquake that struck Pakistan in October 2005. The images provoked the wrath of clerics in Islamabad, who accused Bakhtiar of posing in an obscene manner and violating the Islamic moral norms. Actually, I like many of the things that Musharraf has done for Pakistan. He really has provided stability and pulled back the reigns from the Taliban. Now not everything he has done is great, but they are steps in a direction that will lead and have lead to a more peaceful nation. However, if you are for the Taliban, you will not see it this way. He has a very difficult job and there are many that want to kill him...they have tried several times. We would all like to see the middle east and asia just convert to peaceful democracies overnight, but that just isn't going to happen. It is happening...just at a slower pace than most of us want to see. The fact that you are actually getting news and comments out of Pakistan is a testimony to how far they have come. They were once under shia rule, but have moved on from that and I take that as a inspiration for future of other countries.
