What Do You See In Other Countries?

No country is perfect, sometimes it lacks something that another country has more perfectly established. Question is... which country has something (whatever that is) that you wish your country had?

Well, where I am living is not my country but I will still answering the question. I wish Trinidad can have the landscape of Argentina, the stability of Finland, the widely junk food places and prices of the USA and the cultural influence of France.

Well, as good as the USA is, we can't seem to do the most simple thing...Good bread at a reasonable price. Everywhere else I've been in Latin America and Europe, good bakeries are everywhere with excelent, cheap bread. Here, we buy sliced bread in the stores which is ok, but not good, fresh bread. The good bread is available, but at a price.

Another thing, we don't have good neighborhoods here like Mexico and Argentina and other places. Everyone runs off to work or shopping in their cars and we all have automatic garage doors which close behind us on return. People are never out on front porches, chatting with neighbors. In both Mexico and Argentina, there is a lot more foot traffic. People walk to the bakery, the fruit store, the butcher shop....You see others out and about and you visit. There may even be a gathering place in the barrio where you mingle. That is not part of the culture in the U.S.

I wish the U.S. had paved bicycle paths like Germany. In Germany you have the sidewalk for walking and you have the sidewalk for bicycles and mopeds. If you could see how good of shape the elderly are here. Senior Citizen's riding bikes no matter what the weather is like. I hate to say this and yes I am an American. But American's have to be the lazyiest people on the face of the earth. The Germans have set an example for me to follow. When I become a Senior Citizen I want to remain in top physical shape.

I have to agree with the different life Argentina has. I went to visit my relatives in 1990 for 2 weeks vacation. I saw more people outside visiting, shopping, very busy and when the butcher knows your name & asking about your family, I thought that idea was classic. I miss the bread there too. Oh, & the humidity in the air. I remember wanting to be the room while a visitor or my relative unpacked his suitcase, you could smell the humidity. The only reminder I have of Argentina here is the smell of dirt on the first day of rain. I know it sound sick, okay, I should of moved to the East Coast, but I probably never will.

What Do You See In Other Countries?

I don't know if this is possibility in America (it probably isn't but I will say my part anyway) but I think America should have more marketplace. You know, the kind of marketplace that come along with a ''market'' economy - descision pricing, haggling, outdoor stalls. These are the best kind of shops. :3 So far I have seen America has none and I have visit a few place in America over time.
It probable sounds rediculous but I do not care... China had the best market economy - most everything was fake! :3
