Supreme Court allows quick removal of asylum-seekers without court hearing. The case, one of many to come before the high court involving the Trump administration's crackdown on immigration, concerned a Sri Lankan native who was arrested 25 yards north of the Mexican border and immediately placed in expedited removal proceedings. Now immigrants will have no fighting chance and no reason to dwell at the border. As soon as they are caught they can be sent back, but that's not going to keep them from trying.

DHS inspector general declined to investigate horse-mounted border agents widely condemned in Haiti crisis. The Department of Homeland Security's inspector general "Declined" to investigate the conduct of mounted Border Patrol agents during a September confrontation with Haitian migrants at the Mexican border near Del Rio, Texas, the agency said. DHS said Tuesday that the incident, which drew widespread condemnation, is the the subject of a separate agency inquiry headed by the Office of Professional Responsibility. At least 49 migrants die after Mexico truck crash in one of the worst-ever migrant death tolls in history. A cargo truck jammed with people who appeared to be Central American migrants rolled and crashed into a pedestrian bridge over a highway in southern Mexico on Thursday, killing at least 49 people and injuring nearly five dozen others.
