Typing Good, Handwriting Bad

This question has as its' focus all persons connected with constant computer activity that would render daily handwriting tasks almost to the point of nil. Has your handwriting deteriorated after using a keyboard MOST of the time?

My handwriting has definitely suffered after years of keyboarding. Very spiky letter when I used to have a much smoother script. Also, my hand and forearm cramp up when I write for any length of time. This year, I decided to hand write my journal to try to improve my handwriting and hand strength. I'm not sure if it's helped or not, but I'm keeping up with it.

That's a great idea to keep up the writing skills with a journal. My writing has also deteriorated. I used to take so much pride in my writing no matter what I was writing for...now I too have cramps if I write for a long period of time. I think about my wife who teaches children to write..this will soon be a form of art and no longer for communication ..unless they use it for undercover coding!?!

I myself have never had good handwriting. I was told it was because I am lazy and do not wish to take the time to form my letter properly. It has gotten even worse over the years and I have no doubt that it is a direct effect from typing so many things rather than writing them by hand. But on the bright side, with the fonts on my computer I can print it and it looks beautiful.

I'm with Bwren on this one. My handwriting was atrocious to begin with. Now it is barely legible. My signature looks like a chicken walked across the paper. If I have to sit down and write more than 2 sentences with a pen, I feel crippled.

I actually despise writing anything now and almost feel like jacking in a keyboard to a piece of paper. As some of our Teeny Boppers would say, "Handwriting is so yesterday".

Handwriting is a lost art. In the past, letters were beautiful. Not just for the words chosen, but for the time to form the letters that make up the words. I miss those days. I guess I'm old-fashioned that way. When I lived away from my family, my grandmother and I exchanged letters. I loved her handwriting and I loved taking the time to write letters by hand. As much as I'm glad to be living closer to her and not need to write letters, I miss it. Sadly, I don't write as much any more. My job keeps me tied to my computer. My handwriting has suffered as a result. Unfortunately I don't have time to keep a journal in order to keep my handwriting skills sharper.

I voted the only no so far. The reason is that my handwriting was unreadable to begin with. My wife says it hasn't change, it still aweful. So no, typing hasn't degraded my handwriting, but then, I don't think it could get worse.
