FBI: Bride 'just wanted to disappear'
Runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks wanted to vanish because she feared she could not be the perfect wife. She picked Austin, Texas, as her original destination after seeing actor Matthew McConaughey talk about his hometown on TV.
And she funded her odyssey by cashing a cell phone rebate check and emptying an old bank account.

Stress will make you do all sorts of things. I really feel sorry for this woman, we only had 120 people at our wedding and I know how stressful that got for us, I can only imagine how bad it was for her. Hopefully she is getting all the help she needs and will be ok in the future. I wish her a happy marriage.
This is one incident that I will never forget. I thought that the bride's actions were extremely immature and very selfish. I am amazed that the guy still wanted to marry her, after all the chaos that she created in his life. I could understand her "getting cold feet" before the wedding, but I thought that it was cruel for her to pretend that she was kidnapped too! The groom and his family were not only worried about her but they were also questioned by the police for her disappearance! I thought that this was so embarrassing and not to mention, very traumatic for the entire family! If she felt so insecure about not being "the perfect wife," why couldn't she communicate this to her spouse? It is bad enough to be "stood up" at the altar but it is even worse, to be considered a prime suspect by the police, public and the media!

I've always had the "little bad vibe" in the back of my head about this incident. I wondered at the relationship these two had to begin with. For the Bride to just bail out, and then claim kidnapping to cover it up, and then confess; it made me wonder just how afraid of the Groom she was? It seemed to me there was fear there, not just cold feet. I hope someone is keeping an eye out for her.
Hmm very interesting perspective Farseer. I never thought of it that way! But running away and pretending to be kidnapped is a bit extreme! If she was afraid of the groom, why didn't she communicate this to the police? And I don't think by marrying him afterwards indicates that she was "scared" of him. Perhaps she has commitment issues. Or maybe it was just stress, as Ramer suggested. However, I still believe that her actions were very immature.
