Hell's Angels - Bikers

Do you feel that the Hell's Angels Biker gang is more for cosmetics or are they a ring of criminals?

This one took some research, and I was really surprised at the outcome of the articles I found. The website did a good job of giving you links to research biker gangs just for this purpose.

QUOTE

The Criminal Intelligence Service of Canada considers the Hells Angels to be the foremost organized crime group, topping traditional Mafia and ethnic gangs.

First off, I never realized that biker gangs even existed still, none the less topped mafia for crime activity! I always thought that biker gangs where merely cosmetic.

This is an article that documents Canadian forces investigations into biker gangs. While this is most disturbing, I have to thing that the Hells Angels gangs in the US are just as criminal. The article doesn't say that they biker gangs in America are as bad, but I'm sure they are at least involved in the same activities.

This particular website makes the claim that the biker gangs in America are so organized as to be spreading their crime syndicate over seas! All those movies about biker gangs just being mean was simply a hollywood dramatization to the core. The biker gangs of the States are not just mean and brutal, but organized criminal organization, capable of doing almost anything!

Let me share a little snippet of information that will clue you in to the reality of the danger and organization of biker "gangs" or clubs. It has to do with their "colors" or the 3-piece patch they wear.

If you are not a member of a recognized club, do not wear a 3 piece patch or you will find yourself in a serious situation. In addition, in every area in the US, there is one motorcycle club that is dominant. All others must have their permission to organize and exist.

It is o.k. to form a riding club and create patches for this riding club, but it cannot be a three piece patch with the rocker on top and bottom.

Here is an excellent website to learn about motorcycle clubs and riding clubs. I urge you to check the site out, read about it, and then you decide if they are more for cosmetics or truly members of an organized criminal organization.

What I know is I will not say anything bad about them in a public forum. I will never wear a three piece patch, and I will leave them alone because it is not a joking matter. I believe the threat to be very real.

Tena, you sound as though you have had encounters with them before. I have always felt that there was a level of organization to motorbike gangs, but not to the extreme of being a 'business' for want of a better word. May I add that motorbikes in general make excellent get-away transportation.

I have had peripheral association with members of motorcycle clubs. I have known others with closer ties. What I do know is they won't bother me, if I don't bother them. They do a lot of good in society, but I am not convinced that should allow them to control what I can or cannot wear on my jacket, but they do.

I have been to places where gang members were also, such as bike rallies. I have never had any personal problems.

I give them the same respect I would give a bear in the woods. I would stay as far away as possible. There are many members who do great things for society, but I don't think that justifies some of the other things that are done.

I do not know if they are really part of organized crime or not. They are organized and some of them commit crimes, but I am not sure this is necessarily the same thing.

I'm amazed that biker gangs are totally accepted in the US. I was led to believe they were hardened criminals and ruthless.

The bikers in Australia are really dangerous criminals. You don't want to mess with them. But they aren't as ruthless as the ones in the US, so I am led to believe. And the good thing about bikies is generally they are nice to you unless you piss them off.

Bikies here tend to fight amongst themselves unless you get in their way. Some of them do good, but they are mostly ignored by the cops, who often are too scared to deal with them anyway.

They run the drug trade here. They raqueteer other things as well. I'm not talking street level drugs either, these guys are way up the food chain. Biker gangs are well known for their criminal activities, but they are left alone and aren't know for messing with other gangs.

Swedish Hell's Angels find biking gets you down

The Stockholm chapter of the biker gang Hell's Angels is being investigated for fraud after police found 70 percent of members were certified as depressed by the same doctor and were getting state sickness benefits. "It seems to be depressing being a member of this club," Christer Nilsson, deputy head of Stockholm police's criminal investigation department, told newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
