Trump & Birth Control

Trump administration offers broad leeway to employers to drop birth control coverage. The Department of Health and Human Services is expanding a religious exemption under the Affordable Care Act to allow any employer to stop offering insurance coverage for birth control if they have moral objections to contraception. The new rules proposed Friday would make it easier for an employer to claim the exemption, but women's groups immediately said they plan to sue to block the change. The administration says the new rules will only affect a small number of women, because most major employers will still continue to provide contraception coverage, and faith-based employers were already exempt.
