WATCH OUT FOR FLOOD OF DAMAGED VEHICLES
In the market for a good used car? Watch out for vehicles that sat submerged for days in the flooded streets of New Orleans, Biloxi or other Gulf Coast cities ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

My boss has a friend who buys and sells used cars to buyers and wholesalers. They are already talking about ways to prevent these cars from getting into the general sales of reputable dealers. Some people are already trying to sell cars that LOOK perfectly good to reputable used car dealers for cheap. They actually had a seminar up here in Kansas City on how to spot a flood damaged car.
This may be even a bigger problem if, as the news reports, most people do not have insurance. For those that have insurance, most will make a claim with the insurance company and the history will be logged and can be checked out online. Those without are most likely will try to clean them up and pawn them off.
