That is a very fair consideration. The concept and discussion about the Davidic King is primarily based up on the writings of Isaiah. This person is referred to as the "right arm" of God, or God's "Righteousness", among other names in Isaiah.

D&C 85 does not directly link the One Mighty and Strong to the Davidic King. They could very easily be two different people. But they could also be the same person.

The site you mention is an anti-fundamentalist book. Just make sure that you are aware of that.

I was reading this thread from the beginning when we were discussing the "Great Divide" and Apostasy in the Church and I found the following:

It's dangerous to assume that any one person, even our own prophets who are men and therefore fallible, can be exempt from this deception. This is why personal revelation is so important to cultivate and practice, that we can receive answers to questions in the end times.

Yes, this fall in the category of personal Apostasy but what about a general Apostasy in the last days? The above quote says the Church will not have another general apostasy from the truth and that we must each guard against personal apostasy.

I don't believe it either. The Priesthood won't be removed again from the Earth, but that says absolutely nothing about the Church. The Priesthood is independent of the Church, the Church is dependant on the Priesthood.

As I am sure I have said before, I believe that the Church will split into 3 major groups, with the smallest group (less than 10%) following the Spirit. That indicates at least 90% who would follow apostate leaders. Hmm. Following policies that are Babylonian in nature? Image, property, etc?
