If in a house there is a room with no open windows, no circulating air and a rocking chair starts to rock backwards and forwards then comes to a stop after it's momentum has finished what do you attribute this to?
I attribute this to some freak act of nature, a tremble or air drift that I didn't feel. First off, the idea that some of these things are caused by ghosts or spirits is unfounded. What purpose does rocking a chair serve for a spirit? I say that it has no purpose and is thus not a reasonable explanation for the occurence.

A chair rocking by itself and comes to a NATURAL stop can be explained in a hundred reasonable ways. I"ve been witness to a chair that rocks because a truck drove past the house. Mind you it was a one hundred year old house and an 18wheeler, but vibration can make a rocking chair swing. My sister's bird cage would swing, not due to the bird's movement when her upstairs neighbor was playing his music with too much base.
Now if it starts rocking and then stops as a chair will when someone gets out of it, meaning it rocks forward and stays there a while then comes to a natural rest this would be cause for an investigation of the possibility that a non material entity is present. Other clues to this possibility would be an increase in electromagnetic emissions specifically in the area of the chair and either an intense rise or drop in temperature at the location of the chair. These two changes are extensively researched and recorded as common in nonmaterial presences.
