9 HORSES DIE DURING CALGARY STAMPEDE TRAIL RIDE
At least nine Calgary Stampede rodeo horses died Sunday after becoming spooked while racing across a city bridge, sending them plunging 10 metres into the Bow River.

Die Horses Spooked
The article never says exactly what spooked them, but implys that it was the horses bunching up together that scared them. I haven't ever heard of that happening before, horses get bunched up together all the time. But they where running full gallop, so I suppose it was something before the bridge that scared them. I see that no one being interviewed really knows what scared the horses and spurred them full throttle across the bridge.
