Consider the following statement. Based on your religious persuasion do you believe this is true or not?
"No man is great enough or wise enough for any of us to surrender our destiny to. The only way in which anyone can lead us is to restore our belief in our own guidance."
--Henry Miller, (1891-1980)The Wisdom of the Heart, 1941
Well, the thing is that personally my own guidance have led me to do things that I would regret later, yes, bad choices and I do not agree with the first part of the quote. There IS a man I can surrender my life to and that person in my life is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is greater and wiser than any of us.
Well, I certainly won't surrender my destiny to any normal man with two mortal parents. To me, Jesus Christ was more than just a man. He was the son of God, not a mere mortal, though he was mortal.
As far as my own guidance, I believe that is true as long as I am allowing the Holy Ghost to be my guide. It is my own guidance in that it isn't some person on earth telling me how to live and what to do. I decide for myself these things. So, in that way it is my own guidance. The fact that I allow the Spirit to help me decide what to do doesn't mean I am not the one making the decisions.
