SCIENTISTS STUDYING PRAYER
Prayer -- America's most popular form of alternative medicine -- is going under the microscope.

While I appreciate that Science is noticing that prayer changes things, it isn't really something that can be measured. As was noted in the article, you can't have a control group -- you can't tell someone's family or friends not to pray for them, or create a prayer-proof room to put them in. How can they quantify if prayer works or not, when they don't know who is praying for whom, nor how often, or how fervently?
So, I give them kudos for at least recognizing that prayer is a factor, and wish them luck. It will be interesting to read the results.
FarSeer, of course you are right. Similar studies have been done and the non-believers attribute it to the mind telling the body to heal itself or coincidence, etc. I am sure in this one they will be looking for the psychological events that take place in the brain such as wave lengths, blood pressure, etc.
