Best LDS Marriages
If anyone wants to know how to have a great marriage then this quote is definitely in order. Members can share experiences within this thread with regards to having a successful marriage.
This quote is wonderful. I do not know if I have a successful marriage but I do have a great marriage and a great husband. Total unselfishness is what my husband showed me since the day we got married and still do every single day (he was even willing to come to Argentina so I could take care of my sick grandmother).
I'm not married yet. I've been told my many that the relationship that my girlfriend and I have, many married couples wish they could have. It's based on honesty and truthfulness. There are no secrets in our relationship.
"Of all that can bless marriages, there is one special enriching ingredient, which above all else will help join a man and a woman together in a very real, sacred, spiritual sense. It is the presence of the divine in marriage. Shakespeare, speaking in Henry the Fifth, said, 'God, the best maker of all marriages, combine your hearts in one.' (Henry V, 5:2.) God is also the best keeper of marriages."

"If every husband and every wife would constantly do whatever might be possible to ensure the comfort and happiness of his or her companion, there would be very little, if any, divorce. Argument would never be heard. Accusations would never be leveled. Angry explosions would not occur. Rather, love and concern would replace abuse and meanness." -- President Gordon B. Hinckley, "The Women in Our Lives," Ensign, Nov. 2004, 84 |
Mormon Marriage Problems?
There is, however, a notable exception to these patterns. The state of Utah has one of the lowest abortion rates in the country and one of the lowest rates of out-of-wedlock births. It has a high marriage rate, a relatively low divorce rate, and the highest birth rate (despite a low teen pregnancy rate) of any state. An America that looked more like Utah would have more intact families, less child poverty, fewer abortions - and, for that matter, a better fiscal outlook as the Baby Boomers retire. Ref. Source 7
