Orthodox Jews to ban Internet from homes
QUOTE |
Orthodox Jewish leaders in Lakewood, N.J., want group members to remove Internet access from their homes to protect school-age children from sexual images. The leaders of the tightly knit Jewish community have formed the policy with the principals of the area's 43 Jewish private schools. The policy says any student with home access faces suspension or expulsion because even one Internet-corrupted student could sway others, reports the Chicago Tribune. |
It's sad to hear such news. I do not agree with the statement that the negative aspects of the internet surpluses the positive aspects. I perfectly understand their concern over pornography and children but what about adults?. They do have also a big problem with it and by removing the internet from home is not going to solve anything.
While I understand their reasoning, to ban the internet completely from all homes is a bit of overkill. Better to ban TV, in my opinion, which has more insidious sexuality than the Internet.
In my opinion.
