[party Order] Scout - Page 16

Daphne and Tort continue to urge their horses forward, to a point just east of where the horde just went north. Daphne continues to glance to the south and east, while Tort spies the northern and western horizons. Each keeps and eye out for any trace of their friend, and the bandits.

Upon reaching the forest, they search for an opening large enough to allow their steeds to enter, yet which is close enough to the path down which the horde had passed.

Scout Order party

Seeing that the pursuing party has stopped to plunder what he dropped he moves on north just far enough to ensure they will not continue the pursuit at a slower rate. Kalfie dismounts his steed and lets it graze and using bunched leaves or what he can find to brush the horse down to sooth it and let it rejuvenate. While doing so he thinks looks south to see how far in the trees he lies and looks for likely spots to find water for the horse. If he thinks he sees a likely area he will walk his horse towards it and mark his trail he took to it. His mark is a broken branches on the third limb up on very fourth tree.

While the horse drinks he inspect the area around the watering hole in hopes that it might be one of the places they used earlier while traveling with Scout. Other wise he is noting any prints that are there and what made them. If the water is clear and free of green fungus he will look for a spot where it is flowing freely across grave so that he may also refresh himself.

During this time he will be listening for any sound of pursuit or single person approaching his location.

Once done kalfie will try to reorient himself and as to what direction his friends and village may lay.

He also take note if he has any monies left and supplies.

Daphne hears Tortdog's expression of pain coming from South. Her heart starts pounding quickly and she fears the worst has happened. She wonders whether to go and see what happened to Tortdog or ride as fast as she can towards the village.

She does not give it second thoughts. She says "Goodbye Tortdog" with a tear on her cheek and starts riding towards the village as fast as she possible can with the hope that somehow she will be reunited with Kalfie.

Kalfie inspects the water source that the horse led him to. If the water looks clear and flowing he will look to the head or source of the water flow and re-inspect the water. If it appears clean he will drink.

He will then head in a Northern direction (toward the village) and look for the trail that Scout had led them south on earlier that day. From the position of the sun he will estimate north and head that way. He will be keeping a diligent eye out for horse tracks and keep marking his path. As he rides he will look for the major land marks that where on the map that tortdog made the best he can from his memory.

He will keep a fairly quick pace one that was faster then the pace Scout used that morning. Once he rides for about the same time it took them to come from the village to the forest edge he will reassess his location.

If he finds water he will water the horse and assess the water to see if it be fit for humans.
