JENNY UNDER FIRE
Comments on Syrians trigger concerns
Public Services Association (PSA) president Jennifer Baptiste-Primus has come under heavy fire from various quarters in the wake of anti-Syrian comments she made at a Labour Day meeting on June 19.

This is an amusing story. I think I would be calling for her resignation as well if I heard her make those comments. How can you justify those comments at a convention for fairness? Maybe she just wasn't thinking. Either way, it makes for good news I suppose. Any one from T&T have some thoughts on this?
Jennifer had many victories in the past and I think her popularity got the better of her. Small talk that takes place between people (yes, it happens) about these kinds of issues (race, fairness, etc) is best left as just that (small talk) and not for a public forum unless you are using statistics and speaking before a committee that is actually going to do something about it.
This is such a common thing in Trinidad (talk about race issues). From the executive to the janitor, race is always a talk issue on the island.
I am not surprised by the comments she made, I found that most Trinis do not like Syrians and I know some people may not agree with me but I think that it is mainly a matter of envy because they are the ones that have the most money and power in the country.
