Due to my agreement with the below sentiment I will most likely have no interest in seeing this movie even though as a teen I use to have the poster of the car 'General Lee' in my bedroom.
Dukes Of Hazzard - The Movie (Hover)
While the actual movie it self holds no interest for me what so ever, I live in hick town and find that lots of red necks are very excited to see the movie. I honestly cannot think of one good reason that I would spend money on this movie for.
I have to agree with both comments made so far. I don't find the movie to be even remotely close to the TV series; the characters don't even resemble the original ones. Daisy Duke was brunette, not blonde. Plus she wasn't 'dingy' as Jessica seems to be portraying her. Bo was blonde, not dirty blonde, and Luke was pretty muscular, not a smarty pants like Johnny Knoxville. Probably the biggest insult to the TV series is Burt Reynolds as Boss Hog. Needless to say, I won't be seeing this movie for a very long time.
I think it may be unfair to compare the movie to the television show. I was not a huge fan of the show (I was in love with Bo though), and I really didn't have an interest in seeing the movie. I went with bwren and some friends. I hadn't laughed so hard in a movie theater in a long time. I guess being from the south, I could relate to the humor in the movie having known good ole' boys like the Dukes. The chemistry between Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott was great. You really feel like they may have been cousins (Or brothers) in another life. I didn't care for Jessica Simpson in the movie, but her role is fairly small.
If you go into watching the movie comparing every little detail, you will hate this movie. But if you go into watching the movie wanting just to enjoy slapstick humor, I think you'll enjoy it.
