The Matrix Vs. The Island

I recently went and saw the new movie called The Island starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett
Johansson (Michael Bay film). Has anyone else seen it yet? I don't want to give anything away but I had Matrix flashbacks while watching it. Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie but there were parts of it where I was thinking that Michael Bay must have been a Matrix fan. Just wondering if anyone else felt like that at all. It would also be interesting to discuss what similarities others might have seen. I give Matrix all the credit for the good ideas/suggestions in The Island.

I agree, the movie plot was alright, but the imagery and scenery definently hinted strongly at the Matrix. You could see it especially in chase scenes and a fight scene in the movie that really stuck out as Matrixesque. But remember, imitation is the highest form of flattery!

The Matrix Vs. The Island RPG Plugged Trilogy Matrix

Sorry, but to rate this movie anywhere next to the Matrix is a direct insult to Matrix fans anywhere and everywhere. The story was under par, and everything took much longer than was necessary to fit together. The Matrix leaves you wondering about 'how' and 'if' and 'why', but this movie leaves you only asking, 'why did I even bother?' I therefore cannot give any comparison between this and the beloved Matrix.
