In cases of flagrant delicts, such as a person declaring they entered the country illegally, any citizen may make a citizen's arrest on the offender and his accomplices, turning them over without delay to the nearest authorities. Only [citizens] by birth or naturalization and [Citizen] companies have the right to acquire ownership of lands, waters, and their appartenances, or to obtain concessions for the exploitation of mines or of waters. [1] [Citizens] have priority over foreigners under equality of circumstances for all classes of concessions and for all employment, positions, or commissions of the Government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable. Foreigners can serve in the military only during wartime. Pursuant to Article 33, "Foreigners may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country." This ban applies, among other things, to participation in demonstrations and the expression of opinions in public about domestic politics. Article 55 denies immigrants the right to become federal lawmakers. congressman or senator must be "a citizen by birth." |

It sounds that way - draconian - however, I actually agree with it. Why would I want someone illegally entering my country and taking up work, land and leeching on everything? Why would I want a foreigner taking a job from me when I could have it, as I was born here, bred here and possibly even fought to be here? Now with that said... the US has a great need for immigrants, whether they want to admit that or not (we have other Threads on that), and the country of itself is built on immigrants, so it is almost a contradiction in terms. Lastly, because a lot of people are ignorant, I can see a hostile mob making a hay day of that law - I hope they verify who is illegal and who is not - something only US immigration can really determine.

This is actually the immigration policy of the American country of Mexico.
It seems that Mexico has been criticizing the USA for years on its immigration policy.
The truth is that Mexico has no tolerance for its neighbors to the south when it comes to immigration. It is hard for the USA to take Mexico's complaints seriously when Mexico treats their illegal immigrants so poorly. Mexico actually imprisons foreigners for years if they are repeat offenders. If someone protests the immigration policy and they are not a citizen then the person is arrested. If someone was an illegal immigrant then they can never hold national office in Mexico.
The USA policy so far is much more liberal then Mexico's
