How big is the World Wide Web? Many Internet engineers consider that query one of those imponderable philosophical questions, like how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

I guess this is just a battle between Yahoo and Google and admitting who is the one who has the most documents on the net. I do not think they will ever come up with an agreement, nevertheless we know that the internet hosts billions and billions of documents.

WDAgent, That is just way too cute. I am not sure how I had never seen that before. I am not sure how accurately you could really even attempt to measure the size of the internet even if you were counting it by documents or even domains. I have heard somewhere that over 2000 new domains were published daily. This would mean that by the time you counted all of them more would have already come. Documents are the same way with the ease everyone has of having the ability to add or modify web documents themselves.

I believe that it has been established that Google holds currently the most records of current internet content but I unfortunately do not have any actual information to back that up with.

I love that! I am sending that to my friends now. Google is the current king and will most likely remain that way. Once they put the google sense into place, it created a never ending string of links to different sights that sign up. They will continue to have the NEED to have more and more pages cached due to their size.

How Big Is The Internet?

I guess a philosphical answer to this question would be "It's as big as you want it to be." Instead of putting a measuring stick to how much content is out there, rather ask "What can I not find on the Internet?" I believe the answer to that is 'Nothing'. Therefore the Internet is infinite. Right?
