Multi-millionaire property developer David Henderson, who was caught up in a celebrity drug case, has escaped a fine after the judge said it would have little effect on him.

The maximum penalty possible was three months' jail and a $500 fine. The judge said that because Henderson was a first offender, jail was "totally inappropriate" and fining Henderson, whose personal wealth is estimated at $30 million, would be of "minimal effect". Henderson has pledged to donate $10,000 to a drug rehabilitation centre. |

You commit a crime, you should get an equal punishment. Since he is rich, how about a higher fine. Do what the Scandanavian countries do, fine people on violations in proporation of their income and there will be less crime and it's quite obvious. I wonder why New Zealand and other countries did not do the same thing.
COST OF JUSTICE IS TOO HIGH
Justice is the preserve of the rich, a clear majority of New Zealanders believe.
