Capturing is a process where you read a scripture and then write down your thoughts about that scripture. I have been doing this as part of my personal scripture study and thought it might be fun to share this process with others. If it is successful enough, we might even start a scripture capturing board, but lets see how it goes first. So, to begin with, I will write my thoughts on this particular scripture. Then others should do the same in this thread about this particular scripture, only. If you want to capture other scriptures that should be another thread.
I am starting with a scripture from the Old Testament so that more members will feel they can contribute regardless of their personal religious beliefs, but this works with all scriptures, and, if it is successful, I will post (and encourage others to do so as well) my thoughts from other books of scripture too.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22 |
First off, thanks for this scripture reminder funbikerchik. For some reason Psalm 55:22 seemed to hit home with me today. I needed it.
Here are my thoughts as I read this scripture:
I believe that when we are doing what is right, we are tested. When we are doing what is wrong, we are tempted. I think this plays an important factor into the second part of this scripture, which states, "He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved". Righteousness is key to having the Lord sustain us. Although we will have stumbling blocks, we cannot be moved in regards to the direction we stumble.
I believe that when we feel overwhelmed, we need to remember that the Lord will not over program us. He will not give us more then we can bear. He knows our capabilities perfectly. But we must remember to cast our burdens upon him if we want him to sustain us.
I too have a difficult time remembering to cast my burdens upon the Lord. I think I try to do things alone quite often. It is comforting to know that the Lord is waiting for us to cast our burdens upon him.
I had never heard of "capturing" scriptures prior to this, FBC. Thanks for starting the topic.
My thoughts on this scripture echo what's already been brought up. Too frequently, I try to just "handle" things, or manage my life how I think it ought to be done, and then find that I have no idea what I'm doing and I've botched things up (usually with the word "again" on the end of that). Why is it only when I feel over-burdened or overwhelmed that I look to the Lord to lighten my load?
It reminds me to speak to the Lord about *everything* that is happening in my life, and not to withhold anything from Him; that he will sustain me (in every sense of that word) in all areas of my life.
