During my career I went to SERE School. That stands for Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape. They taught us how to resist torture. Yes, it's true that you'll eventually break, but the idea is to resist as long as possible so the information you give up is old and mostly useless. Also, it is incredibly realistic and they break you down during the survival and evasion phases by cutting your diet to nearly nothing and only allowing a few hours of sleep a night. When the resistance phase comes around your so hungry and tired you almost believe you've actually been captured. This was some of the best training of my career. That said, my intent was to fight to the last and die at the end.
