Kids May Mimic Parents' Smoking, Drinking
AP - Preschoolers pretending to shop for a Barbie doll's social evening were more likely to choose cigarettes if their parents smoked, and wine or beer if their parents drank, a study found.

I am not a true believer of these type of studies although I do notice that most of the teenagers I have met in my life who smoke and drank were heavy influenced by the "example" of their parents. I do not think parents in general realise the deep impact (good or bad) they can have upon their children. One of the examples I am talking about was my mother, for what they told me, she smoke since she was very young (like 14 years old), her father was also a smoker and they used to smoke together. Very sad.
Offtopic but, Funny enough, she smoke while she was pregnant with me and I was born with tachycardia and I can't stand the smell of cigarrette! |
These studies interest me a bit. I know the kids will probably never know they were being tested, and as long as the parents gave consent, all the bases were covered. It is just entertaining to me to see the results. Since my husband smokes (again! UGH), I know this will probably be something I witness in a few years. Unfortunately I can ask my husband til I'm blue in the face to please quit smoking, but I'm waiting for son to hear it in school one day that it kills people and he'll do the asking.
