Utah adds 10 people per hour
Utah added a record 10 people per hour over the past year, bringing the state's population to slightly less than 2.7 million. The state grew by a record 84,425 - roughly the number of residents in Ogden - from July 1, 2006, to July 1, 2007, according to estimates released Thursday by the Utah Population Estimates Committee.

Utah population booming
Utah is and will no doubt remain among the country's fastest-growing states, according to new estimates released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. Utah is third in percentage of population growth, behind Arizona and No. 1 Nevada, according to the growth estimates between July 1, 2006, and July 1, 2007.

There are many reasons for this booming, besides the large amount of LDS members who tend to have large families, Hispanic immigration in Utah is becoming huge right now and they tend to have large families as well, hence they choose Utah as their destination.

Utah has nation's youngest population
Nearly one-in-10 Utahns are under the age of 5, according to estimates for July 1, 2007, released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. And Utah has the nation's lowest median age, at 28.5 years. However, while Utah is youthful, it's also aging. By 2015, one Utahn will turn 65 every 23 minutes, says Debbie Booth, an information specialist for the Division of Aging and Adult Services. Because of that, Utah is projected to see a time when senior citizens outnumber youth.

How dry is it? Great Salt Lake nears record low
"How low can it go?" That's what you've got to wonder about the receding Great Salt Lake these days. Approaching record-low levels not seen since the early 1960s, the lake is now almost six feet below its average level and is simply not so "great" anymore.
