Minnesota
The capital of Minnesota is St. Paul and the State was admitted to the Union on: May 11, 1858. Feel free to add messages about this State's Traditions and Culture.
According to the official State web siute: "Minnesota remains one of the fastest growing states in the Midwest and Great Plains, according to new estimates by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. From July 2004 to July 2005, Minnesota's population increased by 36,253 people, or 0.7 percent. The state's population on July 1, 2005 was 5,132,800".
I currently live in Rochester, MN, the third largest city in the state behind Minneapolis and St. Paul. Rochester is famous for the Mayo Clinic, one of the leading hospitals in the country for research and development in health technologies. Minnesota is known as the Land of 10,000 lakes, but interestingly enough, there is not one natural lake in Rochester. Paul Bunyan is a historical figure in the state, and fishing and hunting are very popular sports with the large area of woods and number of lakes.
