The capital of Missouri is Jefferson City and the State was admitted to the Union on: August 10, 1821. Feel free to add what you know about the Culture and Traditions of this State.
Having lived my whole life in Missouri, I feel compelled to post to this thread. While Missouri does not have the reputation of being a tourist state, but the opposite is true. St. Louis offers a ton of tourist attractions from river front to the Arch. Kansas City has earned the nickname city of fountains because the amount of fountains is rivalled only by Rome and Madrid Spain. Kansas City also has a rich history of Jazz and Bar B Q that is unrivalled. We have the Jazz museum at 14th and Vine as well as the Negro League Baseball museum in the same area. Currently, our entire downtown area is being renovated with a new arena and hotspots for tourists and the younger crowd.
The Arch
ST. LOUIS - When architect Eero Saarinen was creating the design of this city's famed Gateway Arch, he constructed his first model out of pipe cleaners. A long way from its humble beginnings, the shimmering steel Arch celebrates its 40th anniversary Friday.

In kansas city, we recently voted to improve our downtown, finally. Sprint is building an arena and there is a new entertainment district being built. This brought an arena league footfall team to our state!
This leaves a huge problem around Halloween, with all the old abandoned buildings being torn down, what will we do about haunted houses, we have some of the best around?
Also recently passed was a bill to improve the sports stadiums, but they failed to approve the rolling roof which would have brought a super bowl to kansas city as well as an all start game from the MLB.
It very frustrating on this side of the state since St. Louis tends to get all the good stuff and Columbia gets the rest due to Missouri University. Its so frustrating that our representatives are so one sided with state money.
However, we were not the one with the voting fraud accusations in Missouri, that was St. Louis as well.
Originally, being a St. Louis native for some 25 years, I found it interesting that the original plans for the Arch actually had a mirror image constructed on the East St. Louis side. Unfortunately, that area became more a home to abandoned buildings, floating casinos and stip clubs.

Actually, they did reopen the top deck to automobiles and pedestrian traffic after renovation was completed. The raildeck is used by the light rail system (metrolink).
