No, she was too young when my daughter's dad originally picked her up- only 5 weeks. I've been waiting for the local shelter to have their vaccination day, which is at the end of this month. Then I found out a few days ago from a co-worker that we could have actually bought the injection ourselves from a local feed store - that's what she did when she found out our puppy is sick, because she has a new puppy also and wanted to vaccinate him against possibly exposure from us. Which just makes me feel worse.
Diane - by the time we realized how sick she was, it was too late. They would have been happy to help at the outset, but after a few days with no IV treatment, she said there is nothing they can do.
I can't believe Gigi made it through the night. This morning she is still breathing, but sleeping deeply. I don't expect she will withstand it much longer. My daughter is just so torn up about it, and we have yet to tell her dad who originally got the puppy for her. He was just out here visiting two weeks ago, so I'm sure I'll hear some kind of abuse from him.
