All humans should be well informed about this disease, are you?

Coronary artery disease (CAD) occurs when the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle (coronary arteries) become hardened and narrowed. The arteries harden and become narrow due to the buildup of plaque on the inner walls or lining of the arteries (atherosclerosis). Blood flow to the heart is reduced as plaque narrows the coronary arteries. This decreases the oxygen supply to the heart muscle.

CAD is one of the main reasons to watch your cholesterol. When my dads cholesterol was really high, this was the reason he was given to get it down. Cholesterol builds up in the arteries and over time begins to harden causing the hardening and narrowing of blood vessels. With so many fatty foods and people that are over weight due to their consumption, its no wonder its such a common killer.
