A MURDERER AT 11, HE'S FREE AT 21

A convicted murderer who was just 11 when he shot a man with a rifle was released from state supervision Thursday, a day before his 21st birthday.

Perhaps we need to rethink our justice system in this country. When you kill someone in cold blood at eleven years old, you are just plain screwed up and probably should be around us civilized people. I believe in second chances, but there are plenty of studies that show that if you start killing at a young age, you aren't ever going to be normal.

How can this be fair? He makes somebody's life extinct at the age of 11, then he is totally free to walk around as though nothing has happened less than 10 years later. It's not as though it was an accident, he killed this man in cold blood, and I agree with Konquererz on this, if you are like that at 11, I don't believe that you are likely to change!
I believe that he will always have badness in his heart, unless he has had some life changing miracle.

To be locked up at such a young age amongst other, perhaps like-minded individuals, does nothing to "rehabilitate" anyone. If anything, his heart is more bitter now. The link has been removed so I didn't read the whole story, but I imagine this young man is not going to have an easy time of it. Has he learned a trade? Even if he did, who would hire him? How can he relate to the world at large? It's tragic on a number of different levels.

Unfortunately the link is no longer accessible, but I will respond to this thread anyway. I think that it is sad to see at the tender age of eleven, this boy chose to think like a harden criminal, by taking the life of another human being. I feel sorry for him and my heart goes out to the family of the boy and the victim's family too. It makes you wonder if there was anything more his parents could have done, to prevent this from happening. I agree with Farseer though. Sending him to prison is not going to rehabilitate him. I am not condoning what he did but going to jail will just make matters worse. This boy will never be normal again. He will never be able to live a normal or healthy life. It will be very challenging for him to re-integrate into society. It would not be surprising, if he finds himself in trouble with the law over and over again.
