Here in Minnesota, Kirby Puckett was a legend, a hero. He brought 2 World Series titles to the Twins, and was the face of the team, even after he retired. It was very sad to hear that he suffered a stroke, and even sadder that he died so suddenly. He was scheduled to remarry this June. He will be missed dearly here in Minnesota, and around the country.
My Royals have played the twins many times. Kirby was always a favorite at the stadium, even though he was for the opposing team. He was one of those players that embodied what the game was about. Not to many people around that have the kind of talent AND class that he, and people from his era had.
I had a feeling something like this was going to happen, but with his estate, not his ashes!
Family of late Hall of Famer Puckett feuds over his ashes

MINNEAPOLIS -- Those closest to baseball Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett are disagreeing over who should keep his cremated remains. Attorneys are discussing whether Puckett's ashes should be given to his two children, or divided with his fiancee, Jodi Olson, who was living with Puckett when he died. |
I agree with you whole heartedly, I think blood holds precedent. While I sympathize with her, if he did not specify in a will what he wanted, then its up to his family to decide what happens with his remains. Jodi Olson would have been his fiancee, that would have made things different, but it never happened, so it doesn't.
