Roman Catholic Powerful Hand
Do you have a 'Powerful Hand' symbol? Do you believe it affords some greater blessing or protection?

My family has strong Catholic roots (while mine remain protestant) and allot of ornaments handed down in my family are decorated with the 'Powerful Hand' symbol. While it does have significance in protection from evil spirits, it is looked upon also as a reminder that the all powerful hand of God is always there to protect the saints from evil. I know my grandmother doesn't look at it as an actual physical protector from evil, but more as a reminder of Gods omnipotence. Considering Jesus to be not only God, but the ultimate expression of Gods love explains the post-crucifixion hand of Christ that the Hand is patterned after. While hands are used as symbols of power in several religions, I think they all stem from the desire to know and feel and unseen hand of protection in the users life.
I have a Catholic background and I have never seen this symbol. My family, though Catholic, didn't have much in the way of religious paraphenilia though.
