TV OF 50 YEARS AGO IS STIFF COMPETITION FOR TODAY'S SHOWS
Time and changes in televised entertainment are eating away at the long-standing concept of the television season that traditionally begins in the early fall, though it still is observed to some extent by the networks and some of the cable channels. Whether anything good and long-lasting will come out of the new season that is upon us no one can know at this point.

Absolutely! I would much rather lounge around watching I Love Lucy reruns than the majority of the trash that comes on today's television. I will be fair, there are some shows on today that I absolutely adore, but on a majority basis, I have a tendency to lean towards the older shows.
People used their real talent back then. Nowadays, most of prime time consists of reality shows. The only ability you have to have nowadays is the ability to be a drama queen or king and be able to stir up dissension. When you saw people singing and dancing on television shows back then, it was really them doing it. Not some double that most actors and actresses use today.
The comedy was a lot more tasteful back then as well. Today, it seems to have become a requirement that if anything is to be funny, it must be perverse. Television shows back then were hilarious, and it wasn't crude humor.
Warm fuzzy moments: Those moment in a television show that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside seemed a lot more real to me in the older shows. Granted there is more drama in today's shows, I find myself smiling a lot more when I do watch my old Lucy reruns and think of the Jefferson's.
