Well, I do not know all the details of the case. If someone is exceptionally negligent then they should be sued as this is a form of discipline, plus neck injuries can be life long, but like I said DianeC has to give us the details, everything else is merely speculation.

Hi Diane, how are you? I thought about you instantly when I saw the news about the weather conditions in England. How are you all doing? Hope all is well.

Greetings DianeC!

I have not been on the forum very much these days. I do remember reading a post from you informing everyone that you were involved in an accident just before Christmas. I hope you are feeling a lot better and your accident did not spoil Christmas or New Year's for you. Well I hope to hear from you soon, I am sure I am speaking for everyone when I say, We all Miss You!

Introduction DianeC

Hi you Guys! Thanks so much for all your kind messages...I was overwhelmed when I got back on to my pc and found so many unanswered posts..apologies for the delay in my reply.

We were just driving down the road when a car came out from a side street, he completely cut the corner came on to the wrong side of the road (on to our side) and hit us head on. Fortunately there was only me who was injured, my kids and my husband were ok. The force of him hitting and the angle that he hit pushed the front of our car onto the other side of the road and into oncoming traffic.

The police cordoned off the road, and a police officer had to sit in the back of our car and hold my head and neck still for 20 minutes until an ambulance could reach us through the rush hour traffic. Both cars were a crumpled mess.

Long shot is, that I may have permanent damage to my shoulder and neck, and am having ongoing physiotherapy to try to correct it, and am still signed off work sick. My car has been totalled, they are still arguing over what they are going to pay me for it.

Regarding a payout for injuries, that is automatically taken through our insurance..if you have an injury, with my insurance you have to claim, so they can recoup their payout as well. I think for a standard whiplash neck injury you get around £1000 GBP/$1480 USD, rising further to more significant injuries. Again, we are still waiting to hear when I have to go for a medical for this, but so far I can't even reach into my kitchen cupboard without being in excruciating pain.

It's all pretty bad really, but could easily have been a whole lot worse..at least I walked away alive, and my family were all ok.
Hopefully I'll be on the road to recovery soon.
Again, I appreciate all your kind words, best wishes, Diane.

Hi KNtoran, thank you, that's really kind of you. I've missed being here, and at the moment am still on heavy painkillers daily, but at least I can sit here for a few minutes, which I couldn't do at all before.Small steps as they say.. Best wishes, Diane.

Great to see you around DianeC although under such unfortunate circumstances. Having been the passenger in a number of accidents I can relate to what it is like, although I have not been so badly hurt.

£1000 GBP/$1480 USD isn't anything for that kind of damage! What about the other guy, what is happening to him. Was he booked for negligence? I'm happy that you children and hubby are OK, too bad you had to take the impact of it all. Did you say any special prayer that day?
