I think they just can't decide from the many differing aspects she actually has, plus into the equation they don't know what has come from living with her birth family, and what is genetic.
SAn example of this is that she ticks lots of boxes of Aspergers but not all, and the evaluation of her is that mentally, socially and behaviorally she is less than a 5 year old, but at math, has been assessed at age 11 1/2 (she is early 9). So in some ways for example, she will talk to you about mountain ranges, and then on the other hand you pick her up from school and she is lying on her back with her legs in the air screaming the building down. And although she can talk about mountain ranges, she can't comprehend that car windows don't go down by 'magic'.!
I'm hoping that when King's college London have finished trials they are doing, and developing a new test that will diagnose autism with a 15 minute test, we may be able to move forward from these long winded diagnoses, and it hopefully will help the child a lot earlier on. There has also been suggestions that she also has a mental health problem, but haven't had that theory backed up yet, so I'm not worrying myself until it happens.
I was just looking over some of your threads regarding these issues.. Thanks for sharing.
