Are you a Skeptic?
If you are skeptic about these Near Death experiences being spiritual then what is your answer to those many viewers that have experienced after life?
I am not sure I am a skeptic, but then again, I am not sure I am a believer either. I have read articles written by medical professionals have indicated it is likely just the normal body response to death. That these people are experiencing high levels of endorphins released into their blood stream as they die and this causes the weird experiences. They are all "tripping."
I think it could also be some really weird dreams. Although, when I am under anesthesia, I am aware of absolutely nothing and have no dreams at all.
Of course, since I am not sure whether I believe or doubt, it is also possible these things are really happening. I know this isn't a religious board, but my personal religious beliefs do impact how I feel about this topic. I doubt that the Lord would intervene and send you back saying you weren't finished with your work. This is the main reason for my skeptism.
I guess I could say I am a skeptic about Near Death experiences, because I don't believe one's spirit is exiting and re-entering one's body during or right before death. I can understand when people say they saw their lives flash before their eyes, because when people are realizing they are in a situation where death can occur, they recall experiences from the past that they may have forgotten for a long time. If this is part of a Near Death experience, then I could possibly believe that. However, the part about being outside your body and looking at it, etc, I just don't believe in. I am no expert by any means, but I do know the brain is a very powerful organ, probably the most powerful in the human body. Perception vs reality is something that fascinates me, and my belief is that a 'Near Death' experience is more of the brain playing tricks on us while we are in a near death state. No disrespect intended to anyone who believes they have had a Near Death Experience; I'm just not a believer.

Ok, so back in the 60's and 70's, the stanford institute was studying the effects of gravity on humans in a centrifuge. When they passed into unconscienceness, some of them reported beautiful scenes of what they described as heaven along with tunnel vision.
The doctor doing the experiment also tried it and experienced several experiences that match the description of an NDE. In fact, nearly 18% of the subjects had NDE's under the loss of conscienceness due to gravity. The amount of people that almost die that have NDE's is ...... you guessed it... 18%.
I believe that NDE's are not near death experiences but the brain trying to make you more comfortable and relaxed when the brain is under the great stress of something like high gravity, medication, or even fighting for its life. NDE's are the creation of humanity desperately trying to explain the unknown. But unknown does not mean you went to heaven and came back. In deed, almost everyone believes that what they saw was really heaven or what have you. But it doesn't make sense, why were you there? Did god or what ever higher power not know that you would be brought back?
