War of the Worlds
I only just saw the "War of the Worlds". Some parts reminded me of the movie The Road (people do crazy things when it seems hopeless) though it is only the beginning. I thought the effects were done well. The best part was when the man asked for Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) and his daughter Rachel to come into his basement - that gave it a 'horror' feel. One thing I notice with these movies though... They give aliens great power and at the same time make them look so primitive. Aliens capable of invading earth yet not take the time to see if there is any conflicts with bacterium? Or if they were just interested in killing us why not just vaporize the planet? Seems like these aliens liked human blood and wanted them kept alive?

War Of The Worlds (Hover)
Ray Ferrier (Cruise) is a divorced dockworker and less-than-perfect father. When his ex-wife and her new husband drop off his teenage son Robbie and young daughter Rachel for a rare weekend visit, a strange and powerful lightning storm suddenly touches down. What follows is the extraordinary battle for the future of humankind through the eyes of one American family fighting to survive it in this contemporary retelling of H.G. Wells seminal classic Science Fiction thriller.
It was a great movie. Dakota Fanning was so adorable. She played her role extremely well. Course, I found it unrealistic that the mom and step-dad were living normally in their untouched house near the end as if nothing ever happened. The world almost got destroyed and they are at home watching TV? What? Did the aliens miss a house?
