And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ...
Ephesians 4:11
In the Bible there are mentioned spiritual gifts that are given to men. Some people believe that spiritual gifts still exist today, and others do not, believing that they long ago were put to a halt.
These Spiritual Gifts include:
Missionary
Healing
Intercession
Craftmanship
Hospitality
Faith
Discernment
Mercy
Discernment
There are many many more, but I will only list those. Do you believe that they are spiritual gifts, or merely characteristics we all have the chance of having?
In my church, we believe very strongly in the gifts of the spirit, revelation, "Light and Truth" and intelligence, etc.
"Covet earnestly the best gifts. "¦ Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts." (1 Cor. 12:31; 1 Cor. 14:1) This is Paul speaking to the Corinthians however many centuries ago, and as we believe that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, this must still be true.
We should discover what our talents and gifts may be, and then develop them. I believe that we are happiest when we are doing those things that have been given to us. The gifts that we have may change over time, as our needs change and we progress both spiritually and temporally. It's wonderful to have this opportunity to be so blessed by our Heavenly Father!
I firmly believe in spiritual gifts, and that we should earnestly seek out the gifts that God has given us.
To me, the most desirable of the gifts that I know of is the gift of faith. This would be a strong, overwhelming, abiding faith, that moves me to accomplish greater things.
Secondly, I would like the gift of discernment, to be able to discern truth from error.
