The Lochness Monster is said to occupy the Lakes of North West England. Do you believe it really exists?
Lochness Monster (Hover)
I have actually been to this lake. There is nothing mysterious about the area, in fact, it is very beautiful and a large tourist attraction. Personally I think many have taken the whole thing (monster in the lake) out of proportion and it only was accepted as a mystery simply because a doctor took the photo, so if it is a doctor it must be true - right? Wrong!
The whole thing was an hoax. The doctor planned and used a toy in order to fake the picture. As you can see it and probably any expert could see it, it was so obvious that it was not real. I think most people want to believe these stories because it makes a place more attractive although I do think that there are lots of sea species that we have never discovered as yet and that may even be in our classification of "monster".
If that one faked photo were the only evidence of "something" in the lake, of course it would be written off as a hoax. However, there have been numerous sightings and photos of this "something" in the lake over a period of 200 years! Here is a website devoted to "Nessie" and the folklore, mysteries, and rumors. They even have a list of sightings dating back to the 1800s.
