When you think about your own troubles and complain you just have to read a story like this and bite your lip. Considering the fact that most would go through serious depression you have to look at what enabled her survival and that was knowing someone cared. I think it is when we feel no one cares is when all hope is lost. Survival in this case then is based on being around people who care and that can be said for a lot of other things.
