I'm not surprised by this. Australia has obediently followed America's lead in every war against Muslim nations in recent years. There is sure to be backlash.
I think Australia really has to get over Bali and find a better holiday destination. It's not like Bali is that great anyway. What people don't realise is that Bali will always be targetted by Islamic extremists because it is a Hindu state. That is the real reason, it's not because Australians or any other tourists regularly visit. If the Indonesian government doesn't care about securing Bali, then people need to look elsewhere for a holiday.

What is up with all the rioting in Australia? Is someone taking cue from France or are we now led to believe that these things are purposely organized to coincide with other world-wide events?

It's basically a minority of racist bigots who have organised one riot in Cronulla, which has caused retaliation by marginalised parts of the community. This riot is nothing compared to France. This riot was initially triggered by a bunch of juvenile idiots of Middle Eastern appearance who attacked a couple of lifeguards.
It's a disgrace really. A lot of it has to do with the current climate of fear the Howard Government has been installing over the community for the past decade. All this terrorism nonsense, the Iraq war, Bali etc, has made parts of the Australian community paranoid. And it is targeted towards people from the Middle East.
This fear has made sections of white-bred Australia intolerant of people with roots to the Middle East. It has also marginalised Australians who are of Arabic heritage and Islamic faith.
The area where this riot occurred is extremely insular and very white-bred.
I can honestly tell you 99.9 per cent of Australians are appalled by what has happened from both sides.

This all looking to be quite interesting. THe fact that you have some whop are going out of their way to attack others is not good news. While others are not happy that it happened I do not see anyone trying to stop them from doing it again. Hopefully something will be done so that more of the population does not become part of the problem.
