Black Authors

It was once asked by an elder white female to a younger black author in the 50's what were the difficulties in him writing. The black author said that in times past the white man could write and describe the black man, now the black man could write and describe the white man and therein lies the panic. What do you think about this?

I like the statement. We fear what we do not understand. Many white people still don't understand black people, their heritage, or their culture, and that breeds fear. I have zero racial prejudices against race or skin color. I freely engage in conversations with other races and culture about our differences and why people cant except them at face value, just different. To many, this is entirely out of the question, that its not politically correct to confront someone about why they can use words and I cant, and why that person talks differently. But I find that when I'm open, other cultures are willing to give me an answer, even if I don't like it, and they can except that I don't understand or agree. Black authors, I believe have tried to open the way for conversation by talking about other races. This encourages dialogue in a non face to face confrontational setting. Authors like Nedra Cambell have opened eyes as to why black men and women feel like the legal system doesn't work for them.
