I said a little prayer and told G-d I was going to start from scratch and purposely forget everything I had been told with regards to my faith. I wanted proof of His existance. He would have to proove it to me. Hi would have to tap me on the shoulder. Faith I had, and it was hollow. I wanted something solid - concrete proof. I spent years in the canyons of the rocky mountains studying and ended up after 5 year with more questions than answers.
I was raised a christian but nobody could answer my questions with any clarity or certainty and there were things in the bible that didn't make sense. I was a geek who read the bible cover to cover several times. In the Old Testament, 1+1 = 2. Then in the New Testament it said we were tricked. Basically the laws in the old testament were only given to us as an example to show us our sin and our failings to do what the law said. This was mind boggling because it's not hard too find verses in the Old testament where G-d says the laws are not too tough for us and we should obey them. I never liked the idea of G-d tricking us.....
After studying religion, philosophy, ancient history and even theoritical physics in school and in the canyons, I ended up more confused. It seems mankind has many many interpretations of spirituality, religion and laws. Eastern religions don't seek G-d, they strive towards something else. Atheists are blind when it comes to the awesome aspects of our universe and existance. Christian religions and denominations were formed by men, and therefore subject to change.
Hindu, Buddha, Christian Science, Mormon, Catholic, Protestant, Native American, and numerous other religions had left me empty. The only one left was Judaism and I already knew enough about that one from what I'd been told in church. Frustrated, I decided to give Christianity another look. Better yet, I'd start in Genesis again. I always flew thru the Old Testament - it was ancient and outdated. But I'd read it again in case I missed something.
Genesis was fun as usual and the begats were boring as usual. I arrived at the foot of the mountain as usual and there was Moses talking to G-d.
BAM!
