Most Political Religion?

Which religion in your mind is the most aligned with Politics in making its' viewpoints known about governmental issues and / or concerning itself and / or involving itself with affairs of State? Conversely, which religion would you say is all the opposite and is the most well known for not being political at all?

Tough choice. I would say evangelical christians are the worst about it. Growing up that way, they tend to preach candidates from the pulpit. I know Bush was pusing to galvanize the christian right wing to win his election and it worked. John Ashcroft personally spoke in two churches I grew up in.

However, Muslims tend to build their government policy around their faith, so they could be argued for also. But in America, I go with evangelicals.

I don't think there is a religion that exists today or has ever existed in the world that has absolutely nothing to do with politics, in fact, hundreds of years ago, religion was the only governing body.

There is no religion that bases itself around the government and economic decisions, they are set up to guide the people in their SOCIAL lives, not to guide them on how to run a proper government or help in any way.

Seraph, I'm not sure if I understand you correctly but isn't the purpose of all christian and muslim beliefs not to mention Jewish to set up a political kingdom of God where the Almighty is our only King.

I believe that it is a tie on who is the most political Religion, The Catholics are the greatest influeance in the Political world for the simple fact that it's been involved in the running of Many nations for almost two millinium.

As a Latter-Day Saint I am encouraged to be active in the Politics of my country, I do vote, the church doesn't tell us who to vote for but to vote according the our individual political beliefs.

Keep in mind the purpose of this thread and the question being asked:

For me this would be the Catholics as they are often making statements that are geared towards stating what their believers should do regardless to a governmental decision (like abortion). They have also shown some of this through the use of the Crusades of the past and Monarchies.

This is hard to say, but I am leaning towards Asceticism as its practitioners seem to become devoid of all culture, tradition and of course politics.
